Disney’s Lion King Remake $40 Million away from top animated film spot

0

The Lion King is roaring its way to the top of the box office, according to a report from Forbes. Besides raking in the dough, The Lion King has so far earned an incredible $1.243 billion (say that five times fast). It’s also just $40 million away from becoming the top-grossing animated film, a spot that is currently held by another Disney film, The Incredibles 2.

With the film still in theaters (and it probably will be for some time), will it beat the current record holder? It should only be a matter of time. What remains to be seen is by how much it is going to crush The Incredibles 2’s total. Disney clearly has a cash cow with its live-action remakes as The Lion King is proving to be just that. Hopefully, future ones do just as well.
