By Deadline has learned that British actress Emily Beecham has been cast in Disney’s upcoming live-action Cruella film. A prequel movie based loosely on 101 Dalmatians, Beecham will be starring alongside Emma Stone, Emma Thompson, Paul Walter Hauser, and Joel Fry. Plot details are still vague, but the film is on track for a May 28, 2021 release. Craig Gillespie (i, Tonya) will helm the film.
Beecham is mostly known for her role on the AMC series Into The Badlands. A relative newcomer to the scene, she recently won a Cannes 2019 Best Actress award for her turn in Little Joe. She also starred alongside MCU regular Anthony Mackie in the Netflix sci-fi film Outside The Wire. I don’t really know much else, but it seems like her presence will only continue to rise in prominence as time goes on.
