Disney’s new Jungle Cruise trailer has a snake coming out of some guy’s face

Disney's Jungle Cruise | Official Trailer

The Walt Disney Company: Visionaries, curators and entertainment for the whole family, and perpetuators of nightmare fuel? This last is up for debate, but the new trailer for Jungle Cruise, the Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt buddy movie adapting the iconic Disneyland attraction, might make a case for it.

But you know what? Good! These kinds of rollicking, family-friendly adventures need a little peril! Scare the kids, I say. And in what looks like The African Queen by way of the new Jumanji films, we might be getting a decent romp at that, with a pair of leads like Johnson and Blunt.

I’m particularly excited to see Dwayne Johnson here, in one of Disney’s bigger releases this year. We’ll skip the accolades and just accept that The Rock is the man, but The Rock’s movies aren’t always solid. One hopes the relative (don’t give me the list of garbage, I know it exists!) quality-control expected of a Disney release gives America’s favorite boulder a movie worthy his talents, with Emily Blunt continuing her great year after A Quiet Place Part II hits a few months before Cruise. Previously we last saw Blunt in the titular role of 2018’s Mary Poppins Returns, Disney’s revival of the iconic magical nanny.

With a cast featuring the likes of Jesse Plemons and Paul Giamatti, Jungle Cruise pulls no expense. Hitting theaters July 24th, let’s hope it was worth the wait. During that wait, take a gander at the gallery for a slew of new posters released for the film, featuring a good-natured competition of egos between two of Hollywood’s classiest stars.
