Don’t worry, we’re not getting a Call of Duty movie

The Call of Duty franchise is huge. Like stupidly huge. What with all the recent hooplah about video games getting adapted to the big screen, you may (read as: may not) have been thinking, “Where’s my Call of Duty movie?” Sorry (read as: Not sorry) to disappoint you, that one guy who really likes COD, but that won’t be happening anytime soon because of YOU.

Movieline has recently discovered a small quote in a New York Times interview with Bobby Kotick that Activision has, in fact, turned down several offers to adapt the kajillion dollar franchise to the big screen since “movies based on video games rarely please devoted fans and could taint the brand.” So yes, you won’t be getting a faithful adaptation of the riveting drama that is COD any time soon because “fans” (read as: conscious media consumers) are so hard to please. Oddly enough, this is some sound reasoning. When was the last good video game adaptation?

Although, it’s easy to turn down a million or so dollars when every night you sleep on top of a pile of money with many beautiful ladies.
