Dr Seuss bio-pic to possibly star Jim Carrey

Almost every child and most of the staff here at Flixist grew up reading at least one of the Dr. Seuss books. Now, years after Jim Carrey brought one of his creations to life in The Grinch, Carrey is in talks to play the man behind all the beloved tales in an upcoming biopic.

While there isn’t an official announcement yet, this news comes from a reliable source according to The Illuminerdi. When Carrey portrayed The Grinch in what has become a must-watch Holiday movie for me, he won the hearts of many around the world. My question is, can he do it again by playing the prolific author?

This potential casting news is intriguing to me. In an age where multitudes of biopics are hitting the big screen such as how A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood was the story of Mr. Rogers, the story of a children’s author could be just as popular. It’s a story that has never really been told in film and if done right I can see it attracting Oscar buzz. Personally, Carrey wouldn’t be my first choice to place this icon. Whether or not anything comes of these talks is something we will just have to wait and see.
