Dumb and Dumber To backed by Universal and Red Granite

Almost 20 years since the original film was released (I’m completely ignoring the terrible excuse of a prequel that was Dumb and Dumberer), the follow-up to 1994’s Dumb and Dumber is finally going forward. Dumb and Dumber To, which will reunite Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels with their groundbreaking characters, Lloyd and Harry, will be distributed domestically by Universal Pictures with Red Granite handling international distribution.

This comes hot off of the news that Warner Bros. dropped their plans to make the sequel. However, during an appearance with the Nerdist podcast, director Peter Farrelly cleared up rumors that Warner Bros. dropped the film, claiming that WB was just part of the negotiation process to get the project off of the ground.

With a general release table for “Summer 2014,” it’ll be interesting to see if Daniels and Carrey still possess the same magic that made Dumb and Dumber so memorable. Harry and Lloyd are coming back, guys!
