Dwight Henry cast in Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave

An awesome cast just got awesomer. During our interview with Quvenzhané Wallis and Dwight Henry, Henry said that he didn’t want to give up his bakery in New Orleans just so he could have an acting career. Looks like he’s going to have to get his business partners to watch the shop again. News is that Henry has been cast in 12 Years a Slave, the latest from Shame director Steve McQueen. The film is about a free man in New York who’s kidnapped and forced into slavery in the south. No word on who Henry will play in the film.

The cast of 12 Years a Slave is incredible so far. It includes Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Giamatti, Paul Dano, Taran Killam, and Michael Fassbender’s penis as Dr. Penis “Knobby” O’Penis, PhD. (The “PhD” stands for some weird Gaelic phrase that means “dick-penis.”)

Even if it’s just a small role for the Beasts of the Southern Wild co-star, it’s nice to see Henry is involved in another film. Good news for Wallis is sure to follow in the future. In related news, I could go for some of those buttermilk drops right about now.
