Dynasty Warriors looks like the kind of schlock you’d expect

Dynasty Warriors

It may have been ages since we last heard about the Dynasty Warriors movie, but it will soon become a reality. After getting confirmation of a release date last week, a brand new trailer for the video game adaptation was released by Distributor Enjoy China Entertainment yesterday and it looks exactly like what you’d expect from the series: pure schlock.

I mean that in the sincerest way, though. I couldn’t imagine Dynasty Warriors being anything other than pure cheese and over-the-top zaniness. If Lu Bu wasn’t featured destroying thousands of soldiers in a single blow, then what would be the point? That he’s being played by legendary Hong Kong actor Louis Koo is just icing on the cake. I can’t wait to see his legendary duel with Guan Yu come to life.

As a reminder from the last update, Dynasty Warriors will be releasing in Hong Kong on April 29, 2021. A general Chinese release will then happen a day later for the rest of the country. I’m not sure if this will be some mega-blockbuster, but I absolutely want to see the finished result. There’s no word on a Western release, but Koei Tecmo (publisher of the series) would be wise to get a localization going.
