By The live-action American version of Akira continues to hurtle itself toward the big screen like a Brazil-sized asteroid that will wipe out humankind. There’s been word of Garrett Hedlund being offered the Kaneda role and Kristen Stewart being offered the role of the woman who loves him.
Now there are eight actors testing for the role of Tetsuo. They are: Paul Dano, Michael Pitt, Logan Marshall-Green, Toby Kebbell, Alden Ehrenreich, Richard Madden, D.J. Cotrona, and Rami Malek. Apparently screen tests for the role took place over the weekend, so we may have one of our unfortunate leads picked in the near future.
Which of these eight guys do you think might be able to pull it off? And also, what should the American name for Tetsuo be? I previously proposed Nanook and Helga for Kaneda and Kei. I’m thinking Aloysius O’Ticklebolls for Tetsuo.
