Pitch Perfect was awesome. Pitch Perfect 2 was a sequel. By rule Pitch Perfect 3 should be one step too far. It’s happening anyway because of the money. Anna Kendrick is all in and now it appears that director Elizabeth Banks will return for the third. Banks directed the second film along with playing one of the announcers in the movie.
Sadly, the direction was probably one of the worst parts of Pitch Perfect 2. Banks didn’t do a terrible job, but the pacing and musical numbers felt lackluster on the whole. Hopefully she’s learned a bit since then and can deliver a better movie overall, but most likely we’re going to get another step down for the series.
