Ellen Page making directorial debut, Anna Faris will star

Ellen Page is joining the ranks of actors who’ve gone gone behind the camera. She’s making her directorial debut with the film Miss Stevens, and she’s already got her lead: Anna Faris.

Miss Stevens was written by Julia Hart, whose only writing credit on IMDb so far is the forthcoming Olivia Wilde film The Keeping Room. (That project is in pre-production, with an expected 2014 release.) The plot of Miss Stevens goes something like this:

…the film will follow a teacher (Faris) who chaperones a group of high school students to a drama competition. And as these things go along, she’ll try to put her own messy life back together.

Hopefully there’s a little edge to the screenplay so it’s not just a treacly feel-good movie. Kevin at The Playlist notes that Miss Stevens may take a bit of time to get off the ground. Page will appear in X-Men: Days of Future Past, and Faris is working on a TV pilot for CBS with producer Chuck Lorre.
