Elton John wants Justin Timberlake to play him in biopic

Sir Elton John (just “Sir” to his friends) said that he wants Justin Timberlake to play him in a forthcoming biopic. “Number one on my [casting] wish list is Justin Timberlake,” John said, “because he played me before in a David LaChapelle video of ‘Rocket Man’ and was superb.”

No word yet from Timberlake, seen above left playing bass with The Flaming Lips… or is he on the right shaking hands with Elton John?

Lee Hall (War Horse, Billy Elliott) is working on the screenplay for the biopic, which is described as a surreal, Moulin Rouge-y take on the singer’s life. Baz Lurhman was originally sought to direct the project but was unavailable. They have found a director, however. “We can’t announce it yet,” John said, “but we have got someone on board that we’re very excited about.” (Number one on my wish list: John Waters.)
