Elvis biopic set to Jailhouse Rock in 2021

The untitled Elvis Presley biopic from director Baz Luhrmann will be heading to theaters on October 1, 2021. Warner Bros. confirmed the news last Friday after addressing that Denis Villeneuve’s Dune adaptation will be getting pushed back to December 18, 2020.

Actor Austin Butler is set to star as the “King of Rock” in what WB describes as a story that will “delve into the complex dynamic spanning over 20 years, from Presley’s rise to fame to his unprecedented stardom, against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape and the loss of innocence in America.” Not much else is known about the film, though it will likely feature the typical anachronisms that Luhrmann is famous for. I’m sure Elvis fans the world over are all shook up about that.
