By As is the case with all casting rumors, this should probably be taken with a grain of salt. According to The Daily Mail both Emily Blunt and Ruth Wilson are currently duking it out to see who will get the chance to don the superheroine’s spandex-y bathing-suit…thing. Leotard I guess? Whatever it is, word has it these two actresses want to where it for The Avengers 2. I’m not particularly familiar with either one’s work, but I can say confidently that after watching Emily Blunt in the recent and awesome Looper, I very well may be in love with her, so that’s where my vote is going. Sorry Ruth.
I find it hard to believe that this rumor may be even the slightest bit true if only because I don’t think we need to toss anymore characters into the Avengers sequel if we can help it. Joss Whedon did a spectacular balancing act with everyone for the first film — except for Hawkeye, but his role was still integral — but that’s no reason to tempt fate. But hey, what do I know? I didn’t direct a record breaking blockbuster last summer, so my opinion is null and void.
