Favreau takes a trip to Magic Kingdom

I still haven’t been to Disneyland, and/or Disney World. We didn’t have money growing up, and I never got cancer, so, you know, no Make-a-Wish for me. But now, Deadline reports, Disneyland may be getting a little closer, and not just in the opening credits of its films. The theme park is set to get the Night at the Museum treatment in Magic Kingdom, with Jon Favreau in talks to direct.

Ron Moore, of Battlestar Galactica fame, penned the first draft of the film’s screenplay, but Favreau is looking to remake it in his own image. I am sure more than a few BSG fans wish that he wouldn’t. Still, many things are bound to change between now and when the film’s production starts, considering Favreau is already busy wrapping up the highly-anticipated Cowboys and Aliens and will likely be directing another Iron Man installment in the short term.

With two rides already made or poised for cinematic glory–in the form of the Pirates of the Carribean series, and Guillermo del Toro’s forthcoming Haunted Mansion–one wonders if Disney saw time running out on ride-to-movie adaptations (who would’ve thought?) and just decided to throw them all in the…
