By Fox Searchlight has kindly released this clip from the creation sequence from Terrence Malick’s Tree of Life. However, I feel as though I must impress a heavy warning on this clip: if you have not seen tree of Life yet, you probably don’t want to watch this. If you haven’t experienced the glory of these shots in the theater, don’t even attempt to waste your time here. Stop, right now, and go buy a ticket to see it in a real theater.
There was even a bit of a debate between us editors as to whether we should even put this clip up or not. Some of us were hesitant for fear of destroying the “majestic” quality of the video and I couldn’t agree more. However, personally, as someone who liked the film, I was a bit excited to have this clip because it reminds me – quite viscerally – what it felt like to actually see this scene in theaters. And opera makes me emotional.
So there you go! Watch at your own risk! And don’t say we didn’t warn you!
