Thanks to Disney’s D23 Expo over the weekend, we’ve got a few interesting tidbits about the coming Star Wars movies and spin-offs. The biggest announcement by far is the cast additions to the first spin-off, which is now going by the title Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which was about a team of pilots trying to take down the Death Star.
Joining Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, and Forrest Whittaker, the film now includes Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Alan Tudyk (as a motion capture character), and Mads F**king Mikkelsen. Along with The Force Awakens, Disney is doing casting right. Pulling from a diverse pool of actors and actresses (and directors) you wouldn’t expect to see in a tentpole Disney film, nevertheless a Star Wars film. Strangely enough, I’m way more excited for Rogue One than the actual trilogy.
