First look at the Farrelly brothers’ Three Stooges cast

With the four pictures in the image gallery below, we finally have our first look at The Three Stooges. It might not be much to look at, but let’s take this opportunity to recap and share our expectations with everyone, because this film is odd from all angles so far.

First there’s the perturbing casting: Will Sasso as Curly, Chris Diamantopoulos as Moe, Sean Hayes as Larry, Larry David . . . as a nun . . . and Sofia Vergara is in it seemingly because those new Pepsi commercials are the only other work she can get. For some reason she can’t even get type cast from her — admittedly good — role on Modern Family. Oh yeah, and Jane Lynch because she’s comedy clingy, and Richard Jenkins because he’s a friggin genre shapeshifter.

Then there’s the fact that it’s being written by the Farrelly brothers, who started out hot (Dumb and Dumber, There’s Something About Mary) and have been cooling down ever since (Hall Pass). I’ve got to admit though, their vision is often underrated; Me, Myself & Irene was better than most people remember despite being all sorts of Farrelly levels of silly, and Stuck on You was the best movie it could have been, given its annoying plot. Do you think their next film will be a train wreck? Or will it do the legendary comedy series justice?
