First Look: Emile Hirsch in The Darkest Hour

The Darkest Hour! How about that, huh, folks? Look at that. Just snort it up. It’s about five kids stranded in Russia of all places during an alien invasion… That sounds potentially awesome and potentially “huh?” at the same time. I suppose they’re backpacking through Russia or something at just the wrong time? There has to be some kind of method to this madness. Olivia Thirlby (Juno, Geoff’s Hollywood crush), Max Minghella (The Social Network), Rachael Taylor (Transformers) all join Emile Hirsch, presumably comprising four of the five kids. I guess the fifth one is a surprise?

The movie is being produced by Timur Bekmambetov and directed by Chris Gorak, who was a supervising Art Director on Fight Club, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Minority Report, so we know the film will at least look good. The Darkest Hour comes out December 23–Just the Christmas movie we’ve all been hoping for!

See Emile Hirsch ducking behind a car in Fascist Russia, er, Russia below the jump! Also see some art done as a concept for the movie.
