First official image of Guardians of the Galaxy is great

Guardians of the Galaxy is quickly shaping up to be my most anticipated film of the year. While I may have begun feeling fatigue from comic book movies as 2013 provided lots of brilliant, non-comic book films, I think I’m ready for a bit more Marvel this year. Releasing in August (a few months after Captain America: The Winter Soldier), here we have the first official image of Guardians and it is just the best. Oh and there’s a synopsis for the film too:

An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits — Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand — with the galaxy’s fate in the blanace (It really does say “blanance” here).

I hope this prison line up means the team will join together in the same fashion as those guys did in The Usual Suspects. Now just look at this cast: Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista, and Vin Diesel. It’s going to be a hell of a flick. Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters August 1st.
