From director Daniel Scheinert (one of the weirdos behind Swiss Army Man) and A24, we have a trailer for a deep south dark comedy that looks equal parts Fargo and Trailer Park Boys.
Set in small town Alabama, The Death of Dick Long sees Zeke and Earl (Michael Abbott, Jr. and Andre Hyland) struggle to hide their hand in the death of their bandmate Dick Long. Can the bumbling duo hold it together and get away when both the law and their families move ever closer to the truth? Having seen dozens of movies like this, the answer is likely no.
But it’s more about the journey than the destination here, and the performances look great with some wonderfully quick dialogue. A24 usually doesn’t lower its eyebrows this much, but I’m glad they did, because this looks like a good deal of fun.
The Death of Dick Long will release on September 27, 2019.
