Jimi Hendrix is one of the indisputable legends of rock and roll, and now his iconic life will get the movie treatment it deserves. Starring OutKast’s Andre Benjamin (Andre 3000), Jimi: All Is By My Side will focus on a single year of Hendrix’s life, 1966-67, when the young musician’s career and fame skyrocketed. So the movie will take place before a lot of Hendrix’s really iconic moments like the Monterey Pop Festival and Woodstock and will probably focus more on Hendrix’s relationships and personality.
Jimi: All Is By My Side looks pretty decent for a music biopic, it’s something Hendrix and 60s-era rock fans are going to want to check out for sure. Jimi: All Is By My Side will open in theaters September 23rd, 2014.
