Boyhood was the one film at SXSW I regret not seeing. Since Matt was covering it, we couldn’t double up. Then it ended up being fantastic and oof, I won’t make that same mistake twice. With Boyhood, Richard Linklater has done something that has never been done before. Filming over the course of 12 years, Boyhood follows a single boy during moments in his life from age six to twelve.
Regardless of the film’s quality, I want to see it for the astounding way it’s been crafted. We’re never going to get a film like this again. At least not for a while, anyway. Boyhood gets a limited release July 11th.
