First trailer for Ridley Scott’s The Martian

Although Ridley Scott has had a few misses lately, his adaptation of Andy Weir’s The Martian might shape up to be quite a film. It’s got a great cast with Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Michael Pena, Jeff Daniels and Danny Glover, and it’s got great visuals. Even the plot of the film sounds great. 

Matt Damon stars as the first astronaut to walk on Mars who’s separated from his crew when a dust storm hits. The rest of the film follows his survival on the alien planet, but the weird thing in the trailer is the tone. Seems there’s a bit more lighthearted one liners than I’d think. The whole thing makes me want to read the book more than see the film, oddly enough.

The Martian releases November 25th.
