First trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Gareth Edwards is directing a Star Wars movie. The man who has helped to redefine how you direct large objects hurtling at each other has his hands on the Death Star and all of a galaxy far, far away. I mean, that’s a fact that is real and now we have a real trailer to prove it and it looks damn awesome.

It also gives off a bit of a Hungers Games vibe. Am I the only one getting that?

As you can see the trailer is mainly focused on Felicity Jones’ Jinn and her rebellious nature as she tries to steal the plans for the Death Star, but there’s plenty of other cameos from the fine folks who make up the Rouge One team including Donnie Yen doing what Donnie Yen does, Forest Whitaker being all wise and Ben Mendelsohn looking like a perfect villain. It’s also nice to be back in the original trilogies timeline so the film can have some fun without being connected to the new stuff, and play with plenty of icons (that shot of the Death Star!).
