First trailer for Ron Howard’s In the Heart of the Sea

Based on Nathaniel Phillbrick’s book In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex (the Essex’s story in turn inspired Herman Melville’s Moby Dick), Heart is directed by Ron Howard and stars Chris Hemsworth as the captain of the Essex as they’re rammed by a giant white whale and are stranded at sea. 

This first teaser only gives us a brief glimpse at the resulting battles with nature (as the crew must survive the ocean and each other), but it’s visually striking enough to leave a good impression. Here’s hoping it lives up to the legend. In the Heart of the Sea opens March 13, 2015.
