Flix for Short: A Pale Blue Dot

Joel Somerfield worked on A Pale Blue Dot in his spare time over the course of three months. The short is a visualization of Car Sagan’s “Pale Blue Dot” monologue, which concerns a view of Earth taken by Voyager 1. Even though a single speck in space may seem insignificant, on it there are multitudes and immensities we can’t easily discount.

While some of the commenters on Cartoon Brew are critical of the way Somerfield integrated text into the imagery, I think it’s actually effective, and adds something extra to the poetry of Sagan’s observations.
