This short is a re-imagining of Laika, the first Cosmonaut dog and her ill-fated trip to space. Using adorable animation and flashbacks, animator Avgousta Zourelidi explores what the momentous experiment might have been like from Laika’s point of view.
The real-life Laika was the first living being to travel into space, and even though her mission was entirely doomed from the beginning, she still underwent special training courses to wear and interact with the space-exploration equipment. There is now a statue dedicated to her in Star City, Russia.[via Vimeo]
