Cartoon Saloon, the Irish animation company that created the 2009 Oscar-nominated animated film The Secret of Kells, and illustration magician Adrien Merigeau teamed up for this stunningly gorgeous short film, Old Fangs.
I’m kind of unsure how to even describe this one. It starts out following a few friends on what appears to be some sort of adventure, but the tone of the piece quickly changes. While the animation is ludicrously (ludicrously!!) beautiful, I think what really drew me into Old Fangs was the impressionistic way that it depicts emotions. So check it out, because if nothing else, it’s at least some serious eye-candy.
