THE BOY WHO COULDN'T SLEEP AND NEVER HAD TO proof-of-concept from Dan Eckman on Vimeo.

Hey, I really like this.

Essentially a proof of concept short from writer DC Pierson and director Dan Eckman (based on Pierson’s novel), it’s the story of teenage best friends who get into all sorts of trouble when one of them reveals the ability to turn elements of their sci-fi comic book into reality. The short is clearly shot on the cheap, but what it lacks in budget and action, makes up for in the chemistry and banter of the two kids. It’s very John Dies At The End.

If the short is well received, then Pierson and Eckman’s goal is to get funding and turn this into a feature film. To which I say: yes please and thank you, I hope the finished product keeps the amateur charm and focus on friendly bickering. If the feature film ends up another kinda dull teenage sci-fi comedy then, well, that’ll teach me not to dream.
