First they bring us Matty Shoestring and now we get this wonderfully animated short The Cats of Mars Meet the Toy Car (or TCMMTC for short) by Jacob Stålhammar (I won’t even pretend like I know how to pronounce this). This wonderful man pulled together stock music from public domain commercials, adds this awesome crackle effect and rhyming voiceover, and the whole thing just looks beautiful..
The flick follows these cats who live on Mars and drink soda as they meet a robot that has just landed there (while it may sound topical, apparently Stålhammar wrote this in 2004), and then some cute Swedish stuff happens. It’s all just fantastic because it reminds me of that one song from Cowboy Bebop.
