Umshini Wam is a short film by oddball American director Harmony Korine, and staring sarcasrap Youtube stars Ninja and Yo Landi of Die Antwoord. I first saw this a few days ago, and have since become a bit obsessed. The characters are so, so weird, but they’re songs are catchy and I was genuinely surprised by the narrative of the short.
Normally when I see something is as long as this short is, I’m usually like, “uughghh, I don’t want to watch this whole thing it will take FOREVERRRR.” But I seriously lost track of time while I watched this. It sucked me in. Something about the use of icons, music, color and just the general sassy attitude of the whole thing keeps me coming back to this short, too. I can’t get enough of it.
