Flixist Awards 2010: Best Supporting Actress

0

The only thing that I love more than a great leading performance is a great supporting performance. Think about it: the lead gets all the buzz, all the attention, and in far too many cases all the credit. We mentioned that a little bit in our Best Supporting Actor post, so now it’s time to honor someone else who has an incredibly difficult job: the supporting actress.

Obviously, we here at Flixist think that these people deserve some serious recognition, so I’m here to say that every single one of the ladies nominated in this category were awesome — it’s just that one of them was a lot more awesome than the rest. So, who is worthy of the supreme award of supportive awesomeness? Read on to find out the answer.

Imagine that you are once again the age of fourteen. Remember what you were doing with your life? As for me, I was making awkward sexual advances and listening to The Offspring on my incredibly fancy Sony Discman. Hailee Steinfeld? She’s winning awards, including Flixist’s own Best Supporting Actress.

Incredible, isn’t it? If you’ve seen the film, it’s hard to be surprised with our pick. For me, Steinfeld epitomizes everything that the original’s Kim Darby didn’t have: an infectious likability and the acting chops to back it up. Even the Academy Awards have recognized her with a nomination.

And she’s fourteen. Fourteen! Excuse me, but I’ve got to go listen to The Offspring now.
