Flixist Awards 2012: Best Actress

0

Much like this year’s Best Actress Oscar nominations, our Flixist Award nominees ranged from girls about 9 years old to women about 90 years old. Quvenzhané Wallis from Beasts of the Southern Wild was a lot of people’s front runner, but Jennifer Lawrence gave a strong preformance in Silver Linings Playbook and how can we forget Jessica Chastain as a CIA operative who hunted down Bin Laden, or Emmanuelle Riva’s tragic character in Amour?

The competition for Flixist’s Best Actress of 2012 got pretty heated, but we could only choose one winner!

Best Actress 2012

Quvenzhané Wallis really shone in Beasts of the Southern Wild. In fact, from most people that I’ve talked to about the movie, she was a lot of people’s favorite part. Her character is one part beast, one part frightened little girl and one part “THE MAN”.

While some may huff and puff (myself included sometimes) about the legitimacy of awarding such honors to someone who is still in elementary school, it’s pretty undeniable that Wallis gave an incredibly strong preformance in Beasts of the Southern Wild, and that a lot of people will be excited to see where her career takes her in the future.

Zoe Kazan – Ruby Sparks
Jessica Chastain – Zero Dark Thirty
Emmanuelle Riva – Amour
Jennifer Lawrence – Silver Linings Playbook
