The upcoming film adaptation of Jim Henson’s belovedly weird, musical puppet-a-ganza Fraggle Rock has now got some writers attached to it. Jim Byrkit and Alex Manugian, who both worked on Rango, are signed on to write the Fraggle script.

New Regency is distributing, while the Jim Henson Co. and the Montecito Picture Co. are producing. Fraggle Rock documents the lives of the multi-colored Fraggles, and the Doozers and Gorgs who love / tolerate them. Byrkit is a storyboard artist who worked on Pirates of the Caribbean and Rango with Gore Verbinski. Manugian did voicework on Rango and is a former Cartoon Network exec.
