Fred Armisen’s Spanish-Language comedy series picked up by HBO

HBO is in all likelihood, the top producer of quality television shows. Don’t even mention Netflix to me; they make some great shows, but for every Stranger Things there’s a Haters Back Off. When HBO is involved, I’m on board, which makes Fred Armisen’s new comedy series Los Espookys one of my more anticipated shows of the near future.

HBO made a series order for Los Espookys yesterday, with Armisen attached as writer, executive producer and actor. The half-hour show is set in a surreal version of Mexico City, and follows several horror-enthusiasts on their quest to turn their passion into a business. Lorne Michaels, creator of Saturday Night Live, will be executive producing the show through his production company Broadway Video.

There’s not much else known about the show at this point, but a pilot is expected around November for HBO. Hopefully, Los Espookys can live up to HBO’s legacy of quality entertainment.
