Frozen 2 makes Box Office History

Disney had an incredible 2019 and is now laughing all the way to the bank. The latest report shows that Frozen 2, the aptly named sequel to Frozen, has now made the most money of any animated film ever. In total it made $1.325 billion globally, surpassing the first film that made $1.281 billion. Frozen 2 has also surpassed The Lion King remake, which roared away with Box Office sales totaling $1.65 billion.

Another important fact worth mentioning is that Frozen 2 remained on the Top 5 list for seven weeks in a row. Who would have thought that the sequel would outdo the first film? I certainly didn’t. Frozen itself was a masterpiece and clearly it would be hard to top that, but somehow Disney managed to outdo itself again.

Can they do it again this year with a slew of new films due out such as the live-action remake of Mulan? We will have to wait and see. One thing is for sure, Frozen has set the bar high for 2020 and other animation studios have some work to do.
