Ghostbusters 3 busted by Bill Murray?

Ghostbusters 3 has been in “Production Hell” for years now, so the fact that the movie has suffered another hitch has got to fall on deaf ears by now. Bill Murray has been the epicenter of almost every piece of bad news surrounding the production of this movie and has been the bane of every Ghostbusters fan on the internet… and now this: According to Deadline, Sony stated that “as recently as last month, he had not read the script, or if he did, he has not reached out to get the deal making started.”

This more or less illustrates what happens when a production company panders to the demands of its stars. I mean, I love Bill Murray as much as the next guy, but if one lone actor is the cause for such delays, perhaps it’s best to just write him out of the script all together. Here’s hoping they can all pull it together and get this damn movie made, if just to see some finality in the franchise.

In other news, Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg (the screenwriters of Ghostbusters 3 and the recent Bad Teacher) are now working on an untitled comedy about a Supercuts manager who advises his friend to break it off with his girlfriend, who then falls in love with said friend’s ex-girlfriend and then has to juggle his romance as well as his friendship in (more than likely) overly comedic situations. Hopefully it’s not as derivative as Bad Teacher (Hello, Bad Santa anyone?) and can provide ample laughs.
