Giamatti in talks to play a role in Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis

When it comes to David Cronenberg if the story doesn’t have Viggo Mortensen in it and the title Eastern Promises 2 I get a little disappointed. If you’re like me in this regard prepare to be a little disappointed, but you’ll get over it quickly because news that Paul Giamatti may be picking up a role in the director’s next film, Cosmopolis, is good news anyway.

Nothing has been confirmed by Giamatti’s people, but it does sound like it could be a done deal pretty soon. Now we just have to speculate on what role he’ll be playing. The film, which already has Colin Farrell (barf) and Marion Cotillard (rowr) starring in it, is based on Don DeLillo‘s novel of the same name and involves a rich man meeting people as he travels across downtown Manhattan to get his haircut.

I’ve never read the book, but evidently there are a few characters Giamatti could play. However, I’ve already cast him in my head as the wisecracking limo driver to Farrell’s rich backseat passenger. Can’t you just see Giamatti in the final scene giving the “life lesson” speech as Farrell looks on like a dope? Of course I know nothing…

Of course I know nothing about what the book is actually about so this could be totally off. Again, it doesn't involve Eastern Promises 2 so I only half listened.
