Anyone who was planning to see David Fincher’s Girl With The Dragon Tattoo at a midnight screening next week can breathe a bit of a sigh of relief, since today Sony Pictures execs have decided to release the movie to theaters one day early. Now, instead of opening on Wednesday, December 21st, Girl With The Dragon Tattoo will be open to audiences starting at 7 P.M. on Tuesday, December 20th in theaters across the country.
The reasoning behind the bump-up? They think it’s that good. Literally. Sony Pictures chairman Jeff Blake said, “This is one of the busiest times of the year for moviegoing and we can’t wait to share this outstanding thriller with audiences all over the world. We feel that by opening for night-time shows on December 20th, fans of the book will be given the perfect opportunity to get a jump start on the release of an exceptional film.”
