God of War film to be written by Saw, Pacific Rim writers

The video game film adaptations continue! Following in the footsteps of such classic films as Super Mario Bros., Street Fighter, and Resident Evil (amongst many others) is the God of War film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Charles Roven and Alex Gartner, writers of the four latest Saw films and a draft for Guillermo del Toro’s epic Pacific Rim, have been tapped to rewrite the God of War screenplay.

For those unfamiliar with the God of War franchise, it’s about a Spartan warrior, Kratos, who fights against various Gods from Greek mythology on his way to ascension as the titular God of War. The series is known for its over-the-top violence and tight gameplay. In fact, the first two God of War games were some of my favorites from the Playstation 2 era.

What do you guys think about the hiring?
