10 Cloverfield Lane was such a pleasant surprise of a film. Not a direct sequel to Cloverfield, the movie did its own thing, plopping Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Goodman, and John Gallagher, Jr. in a sandbox of thriller and science fiction tropes.

J.J. Abrams is continuing the tradition of surprise sequels with God Particle, the next film in the Cloverfield pseudo-series; Abrams is one of the producers on the film. The Cloverfield franchise is our Halloween III, people. Let us embrace it.

According to The Wrap, which just recently broke this story, God Particle is directed by Julis Onah and written by Oren Uziel. The plot involves a group of astronauts fighting to survive in an altered reality after they make a shocking discovery. The cast for God Particle is pretty darn phenomenal: David Oyelowo, Ziyi Zhang, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Elizabeth Debicki, Daniel Bruhl, and Chris O’Dowd.

Paramount and Bad Robot have yet to comment on The Wrap’s scoop. Footage of the film will be screened for select reporters tomorrow in New York, and at a similar event in Los Angeles on November 2nd. God Particle comes out in theaters February 24, 2017.
