The upcoming Margot Robbie led/produced Barbie film may be getting quite the writing duo on board. According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach have been tapped for writing duties on the big-screen adaptation of America’s favorite doll. The duo has a history of working together doing screenplays on films such as Mistress America and Frances Ha: they’re almost a package deal at this point.
In an unexpected twist, Gerwig may also be taking on directorial duties for the film, as well. Having just come off success with Lady Bird and with her adaptation of Little Women set to hit theaters at the end of this year, Gerwig is looking to have the hits keep coming. I’m not sure how either of these people relates to Barbie, but I guess crazier things have happened.
