Grown Ups wins best comedy award, the end is nigh

The People’s Choice Awards is a thing that sits just below the Golden Globes and just above the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards. Despite its standing in the awards circuit, it is an award that is decided by the people, so to some, the opinions of the public might be more valuable than those of a committee of disconnected artsy fartsy types. Well, the people are wrong this year, and even though this is a democratic way of voting, it’s still very, very wrong.

Grown Ups, a movie with a 10% rating on RottenTomatoes, has won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Comedy, going up against the likes of Date Night, Sex In The City 2, Valentine’s Day and Easy A. Granted that though this is probably the worst nomination lineup ever seen (other than the under appreciated Easy A), I would have gladly accepted any of those lesser evils over Grown Ups.  When tasked with reviewing the film for Flixist, both Andrew Kauz and Igave it a 3 point something, and that was us going EASY on the film. I can’t speak for Kauz, but I’ve sustained a lot of emotional trauma…

I can’t speak for Kauz, but I’ve sustained a lot of emotional trauma after viewing this toxic filth. Grown Ups was my personal 9/11, and I was here in New York during 9/11.

I would take solace in the fact that Grown Ups only won Favorite Comedy and not Favorite Movie, but sadly enough that award went to The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. This is the same awards show that has given Two and a Half Men an award for Favorite TV Comedy THREE TIMES, and I for one can't stand for this anymore. Gather the townspeople, we must burn it with fire.

Check after the jump for further proof that The People’s Choice awards are an abomination of God.{{page_break}}
