H.R. Giger might be working on Alien prequel

If this news is true, then it’s safe to say that I’m even more interested in Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel. H.R. Giger, the famous Swiss artist who conceptualized the “xenomorph” alien and a ton of other stuff in the first three Alien films, may be back on board the franchise for the prequel film, which rumors say might incorporate his “space jockey” alien skeleton (seen above). /Film reports that the news was dropped by Giger’s wife on the Swedish TV show Glanz and Gloria.

The only catch is that Mrs. Giger doesn’t say on what level her husband will be involved with the project. He may just be consulting on his past designs or evolutions of them, or he could be creating entirely new designs. His wife may not have the most up-to-date information, either; she apparently claims that the Alien prequel will be two films, an old rumor that Fox has since discredited.

Still, let’s hope that Giger is working with the franchise again. His mechanical, yet sexually charged designs were a large part of the aesthetic of the original film, and the look of the franchise just hasn’t been the same without him.
