Harrison Ford is old in this set image of Ender’s Game

To be honest, I finally read the first novel of the Ender’s Game series last Summer. I’ve been told to read it before, but nothing about it particularly jumped out at me. Then I found out Ender’s Game was getting a film adaptation (and subsequently delayed), so I plowed through the book. However after completing the book, I realized that Ender’s Game is an awesome story of fear, confusion, and the effects war has on children. Now I can only hope the upcoming adaptation can deliver on that same level.

By the looks of this first image, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, the film at least has the look down. It’s got an appropriately craggly looking Harrison Ford as Colonel Graff and an appropriately scrappy looking Asa Butterfield (who has one of the best names ever) as young Ender  (I also tossed in a photo of the monitor chip Ender wears in the beginning of the story into the gallery). So you could say that I’m looking forward to this a little more now. You can read the synopsis for the film right after the jump also.

In the near future, a hostile alien race (called the Formics) have attacked Earth,” the synopsis reads. “If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander, Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young children to find the future Mazer. Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy, but strategically brilliant boy is pulled out of his school to join the elite.
