HBO is streaming 500 hours of its hit TV shows and movies for free

Picture this: you’re stuck at home and you’re bored out of your skull. You just finished watching all of those shows and movies that you swore you were going to watch when you had free time, but now there’s still an unholy amount of free time with nothing to do. Admittingly, it’s a pretty banal problem to have, but a problem nonetheless. What’s a poor fellow to do? Well, HBO is making a pretty compelling case to watch a metric ton of their content.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, HBO is offering for a limited time the ability to stream upwards of 500 hours of a large amount of their programming for absolutely nothing. All you need to do is download HBO Go or HBO Now and you’re all set! There is a small catch, but truthfully it’s minor in the grand scheme of things. If you decide to take up their free offer, you won’t be getting access to all of their content. Only a select few titles will be made available for streaming, but even then when the products on offer are some of the best TV shows ever made, it’s hard to grumble about it.

There are some notable exclusions, like Game of Thrones, Westworld, Watchmen, and Curb Your Enthusiasm, but given as how most of those are rather recent and extremely popular, it looks like HBO wants you to pony up for their paid services to gain access to them. They’re also offering movies and documentaries to stream for free, but they’re far less interesting. While there are a few standouts, like Detective Pikachu and The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, as well as the rather cool documentary The Apollo, most of what’s on offer pales in comparison to their TV shows. They’ve got The Wire for the love of God!
