HBO isn’t bringing back Watchmen for a second season

All the fans will look up and shout “Season two!” and HBO will look down and whisper”No.”

Watchmen earned acclaim in its nine episode run last year, telling a new story elmental to the story thirty years prior. New characters mixed with past references danced a fine line that created an fervent story without using it’s past as a crutch. Each episode built a new world using bricks from the old that brought the grit from the source and gestalt of the universe.

After the finale, fans wondered if a second season would be announced. Initially the show was touted as a single season, and HBO is keeping it that way. More specifically, show creator Damon Lindelof doesn’t want to. As much as fans may want to know if [REDACTED] got [REDACTED] and can now [REDACTED], some things are better left to the imagination. Even though Lindelof has given his blessing should HBO want to bring in another creative, the premium channel is making the wise choice of pumping the brakes. They haven’t forgotten the backlash around season two of True Detective
