HBO’s Game of Thrones Season 7 has a real trailer, finally

While HBO released a teaser spot for Game of Thrones season 7 two months ago, it was more of a narrative reminder of what’s to come based off of existing soundbites. No new footage was revealed. This was a problem for the rabid GoT fan, as usually, they’d be due a whole new season around that time of year. But Game of Thrones was pushed back from its standard April release to July. And we waited. Patiently. Not checking our phones on the daily for news of the show or possibly even the fabled sixth book from GoT creator and author GRR Martin. Not stressing over how far HBO would veer wildly off course from the true vision for the GoT storyline its author intended. No.

Thankfully, we’re past all that now as HBO released a full-length, real trailer with plenty of new footage to hold us over another seven weeks.

There’s so much here. Fans are reminded of what has made GoT such a sprawling epic fantasy. Noobs now understand even better why GoT is such a confusing mess that’s too complicated to try to understand … Those dragons tho …

This serves as a reminder of where we’ve left off, the various factions fighting for position, and of several voices of reason that try to sound the greater alarm; the alarm that signals, one would expect, where this show is headed: towards one war–“the great war”–versus the white walkers and their army of the dead. Will the dragon have three heads, as there are three dragons? We’ll find out July 16 when summer television programming will be stronger than ever.
