Helen Mirren wants to be in Fast and the Furious 8

Helen Mirren is a lot of things: an Academy Award-winning actress, an august stage performer, an eternally beautiful woman, the granddaughter of a Russian colonel and diplomat, a five-time WCW World Television Champion, and winner of the 2013 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. Yet Mirren does have one great ambition that remains unfulfilled–she wants to be the villain in the next Fast and Furious movie.

In an interview with Yahoo Movies, Mirren said, “I so want to be a mad driver in a Fast and Furious movie. My claim to fame is I always do my own driving–I was on Top Gear, and I did [my lap] in a very good time. I keep putting it out there, and they never ask me. I’ll be in Fast and Furious 8.”

She also thinks Vin Diesel is the bee’s knees.

Mirren in a major action movie like Fast and Furious 8 (Fast F8?) would be kind of awesome, sort of like Philip Seymour Hoffman in Mission: Impossible III or Werner Herzog in Jack Reacher. If Mirren winds up in Fast 8, maybe Vin Diesel’s Oscar ambitions for the franchise will be realized.

In the meantime, we’ll have to find out what happens in Furious 7, which comes out this week.
